I wonder if it would be legal on an ICF K1.

If it has the advantages mentioned, then why is no manufacturer using them on racing K1s?

I can think of one possible reason. The way K1s are trimmed, the CLA finishes up well ahead of the LCB, so the tracking would be pretty poor without the underslung rudder. The underslung rudder that is normal on K1s moves the CLA back enough to make the kayak track better.

With that integrated rudder, maybe the trim of the kayak would need to be changed in such a way that the drag would be increased more than the drag created by a normal underslung rudder. In which case, there would be no benefit and possibly a disadvantage.
