Appreciate the reminder of the reason for a seal coat--to seal the wood. I guess the concern is outgassing and preventing the wood from soaking up too much of the epoxy and starving the fiberglass.
As for the idea I might save a bit of weight by sanding a bit more. I'm afraid I have been heavy handed all over the boat since this is a first boat.
Has anyone built the Arctic Hawk? I am wondering if the keel reinforcing piece with all the epoxy that fills the void between the v of the hull and the flat piece is really needed or a matter of super overbuilding. I followed the directions since the designer certainly knows more than I do, but I still wonder........
Does any other design fit in a piece inside the hull to strengthen the hull from the inside?
