The last two kayaks I have finished, are longer than this boat and weigh in at an average of 34 lbs with hatch covers, have Maroske fittings, expedition layers, don’t crack up when mounted on J-racks, and look better. Materials cost was ¼ that of the MSRP of this boat.

Yah, we da bomb.

Well, I like to build things, too, (and like 'a pat on the back' as much as anybody ;-) ) but ...... just to be a bit 'devil's advocate' here....
How does that boat perform? You don't see many strip designs for home builders with a similar shape.
Pay yourself $50/hr and the cost of a stripper gets 'non-competitive' quickly...
Resale value? (Is that an NDK boat?) You can hardly give away a used stripper in my part of the world.
Maroske fittings are not to everybody's taste (or utility)
Some commercial boats - especially older UK boats - have very low-tech and heavy layups (mat or chopper gun, thick gelcoat (great for scraping barnacles off the rocks), etc..) - but some are very well-built
Day hatch compartments and KS or similar hatches add weight, for sure. Did your 34# boat have those, and a skeg as well?

But all that won't keep me from cutting molds for the next project!
