I was assuming that they would be using a given weight and testing the amount of deflection at that weight.

I have worked in several settings doing destructive testing with Instrons, and as a reader of their magazine I've read their articles about how the do testing with iron weights and the like. I'm not saying that what they do isn't useful, I just assumed that with their setup it would be very difficult to accurately measure force at breakaway unless they were using actual testing equipment.

What did you use to develop your charts?
