If it is seeping through the hull, my concern would be that the interior glass layer could allow water into the wood from inside. Any water that does get through, from leaks, or from condensation, could rot the boat from the inside out. In this case the additional sealing on the outside is not going to be a total solution.

It does seem to me though, that a single paddle outing would be too short a time in the water for seepage to get right through the hull, glass, wood and glass again.

If it is seeping through the hull it could mean major surgery. I'd look for alternative water ingress and hope to find it.
