I have looked everywhere in the book for a height at which to place the top of the sectional forms from the top of the end form. Maybe I've missed it and I will look again. If I place the sectional forms so that their tops are flush with the top of the end form I will not have anything to work with. Are you suggesting that the top of the sectional forms be down from the top approx. 1/2 of the width of the form itself? It seems like that would give me the material I need to match the angle of the sectional forms.
All of the forms are lined up on the strongback according to two principle lines 1) the centerline and the 2) waterline. If you look on page 52 of the book, figure 4-5 you will see the DWL (Datum Water Line) given in the waterline table. You need to draw these on each and every one of the sectional forms and the bow and stern forms. the 6" and 12" forms are glued to the bow and stern forms and aligned such that the DWL's line up (the pencil is pointing to the DWL on both the sectional form and the bow form in the picture below).
The photo above was taken today and consequently I have cut away some of the bow form to get it out of the boat during construction. (I just had a thought, that upon my demise, I request my corpse be burned on a pyre of my boat forms.... viking style.)
The centerline is drawn with a compass as depicted in the photo below.
The centerline will be drawn and redrawn a few times during the course of the shaping of the bow and stern forms.
The following two photos show the forms lined up on the internal strongback. The holes are routed in the sectional forms such that the bottom of the hole is the DWL. Accuracy and precision are determined by how accurately and securely you screw your router jig to the sectional forms.
Now once all of the sectional forms are on the strongback and the 6" and 12" forms are glued to the bow and stern forms you can start blending the bevels in the bow and stern forms into the shapes of the sectional forms with planes, spokeshaves and the random orbit sander.
