The reliefs don't necessarily have to be curved. The notches cut in the frames can just have the top 1/2" cut off between the stringers in a straight line to give you a relief. The notches are needed to hold the stringers in the proper position until they are fastened permanently. This really is a tiny portion of the work in building a SOF.
