Bill, sorry man. My knees are officially old and I am not sure what I can and cannot do to make them last longer. I well remember the acute phase when I was in pain and had to depend on a cane.

Don't know if this will help, but there is an shoe liner Sorbathane. I got mine in a running store. The are not soft, rubbery. The are designed to absorb the shock your feet have to deal with. They are over the counter and can do no harm,

Also be aware: ANY DEVICE THAT IS MADE WHILE YOU ARE STANDING ON YOUR FEET IS MORE SCAM THAN TREATMENT. I just confirmed that with a podiatrist. the pad may pad some but it is not going to align anything or help in a major way. So cheap one are OK if they help any, but it ain't the real deal unless someone puts all the little feet parts in the proper relationship and then makes the device to keep them that way. Sorta a strongbox for the feet. Don't give up.
