i am having a problem with a coat of epoxy that i applied as a fill coat on the hull that seems to still be a bit tacky after several weeks.
i did not really notice the issue becuase after the fill coat i moved onto other parts of the boat. but when i apply pressure to the hull (am sanding the inside preparing the inside for glassing), i feel a slight tackiness. initially, i thought maybe i had some tape residue.....but it is definitely tacky and if i rub it hard with a finger i can push it hard i can get an effect like a an old stick of gum being worked into the surface. it does not appear to be in the original glassing....
really not sure what i should do here or what the cause could have been. i am pretty good about managing my mix. the only thing i can think of is that the mas epoxy i was using was pretty old (trying to use up epoxy from an old project). but other parts of the boat done with the old epoxy are just fine (am now on the new stuff.
any ideas on what to do next would be most appreciated.
