I'm not sure I understand exactly what is supposed to happen with Nic Schade's Guillimot forms, where the forms in the region of the cockpit cutout were initially cut off flat at the top, then re-glued on with hot melt glue.

Just to orient any advisors, I am doing my first kayak, and am using no staple method with hot melt glue. I'm at he point where I have stripped and faired the hull (cedar), done the shear line plus 3 strips of the deck (with mahogany), and am about to break the forms out, put the hull aside, place the deck back on the forms and begin to lay out two long criss crossing swaths with a contrasting light and dark wood (basswood and walnut). After that I was going to fiberglass the outside of the hull, scrape and sand the inside of the hull and then do the same for the deck. All advice appreciated. Thanks,
