I don't know what it "should" look like.
I prefer generally shorter bow and stern sections that Yost generally does.
You may find after building a couple that there actually is some rake to the stem that best fits the lines he drew.
Too vertical a bow causes the lower stringers to bend outward to meet the stem plate. Personally I suggest making a stem plate, temporarily attaching the stringers, take a photo, then try again with more slope. And again.
At some point you will find something that appeals to you.

Sorry, I find I am not a very imaginative photographer, and don't have a better picture.
Generally I make the stern more vertical than the stem.
If you think you need a rudder, you need to beef up the mounting area before you skin.
