You can also glue the deck to the hull before epoxying the tape on the inside. Just use thickened epoxy for the glue and it will also fill the gaps so when you do epoxy the inside the gaps will already be filled.

Be sparing with the thickened epoxy if you use this method..if you get any 'squeeze-through' inside the hull (lumps and bumps) you will have a tough time getting your glass tape to lay flat without air pockets.
