I just finished a phone call to Tech Support at West Systems. They were helpful, wait was reasonable to be connected with the Tech gentleman.
I thought I would pass a tid bit along: With 105 and the 206 hardener it is better to have too little hardener (lean) than too much (rich). Too rich leads to a rubbery set up which never really hardens. Allowable variance is plus/minus 10%. Since we are talking 5 to 1 (105:206) we are dealing with a pretty small amount of "leeway".
It was suggested I give my mix something like 30 hours to set up before I start the removal process--right now I have rubbery at something like 20 hours.
Seems there was good chance that I over compensated when my pump burped. (I was trying to mix my weight first but my scale went blank before I got the hardener added so reverted to what should have been two pump strokes of the hardener. Drats.
MAS is 2:1 what other brands are more in that direction that people have had good results using for the crazy process of building kayaks???
And thank you for allowing me to share my pain and learn from some people who build beautiful kayaks!!
