New pic and modest review:
I can't seem to avoid comparing to my Outer Island, so I won't resist.
Higher Volume:
I originally wanted this boat for a smaller, "grab-and-go", "weekday" kayak. I should practice reading specs (which Vaclav provides plenty of), because it came out much bigger that I thought it would! Somehow it measured 17', 3" longer than the design length, but its considerably bigger in volume than the O.I. The compartments seem ginormous. I'll be going camping out of it.
Initial and Secondary Stability:
Initial is fair, Secondary is good, with a noticeable "catch" at about 40 degrees.
Handling:
Tracking is good, responds well to both subtle course-correcting tuns, and leaned turns. At its volume, seems to get bounced around more easily by wind & waves, but consider that I'm used to the low-profile classic Greenland style 'yak.
Speed:
Very easy to paddle, 2-3 MPH is effortless. Cruises easily at 4 mph. I had trouble getting it up to 5, and couldn't reach 6. Haven't gone downwind or surfed yet.
I'd definitely recommend this build, but warn the builder that the "pinched keel" is really a P.I.T.A. :)
