This is an issue/question/theory I have that belongs in this thread: Are peddle systems always under tension?

I only have a few hours in a surf ski as experience, but there is not much tension on the rudder (pedal) lines. I've had to 'unlearn' my kayak habit of driving off the ball of my foot (contact point on kayak pedal). In a ski or kayak with footboards, you drive off your heels and your toes really just 'dab' at the rudder pedals when a correction is needed.
You can easily adjust the 'toe' section angle of the pedals so that your toes are not resting heavily on them when not steering.

Not to be confused with the older (terrible) kayak sliding rudder pedals which were under tension if you tried to use any leg drive at all...those can all benefit from upgrading to 'gas pedal' controls.

BTW, if you can find a supplier, the Dyneema cord (or Powerline- used in the THINK skis- it has a nice waxy feel) is the same stuff used by kiteboard riggers. (Stellar sells the Dyneema but it's not clear from the website if the price is S1.50 per ft or per m....so a phone call is in order.)
