I agree with John's comments on which boat to make. It will depend more on your kayaking skills and also how and where you want to use the boat. If you tell us a little more about yourself and your goals, you're bound to get all sorts of suggestions to help you narrow your search. Once you get that far, nothing beats getting in a boat and paddling it to see how it feels and handles. There are plenty of people on this site who would be happy to let you try a boat.
