Looks like I didn't read very closely since you clearly were talking about a strip kayak.
The one I built was not a beginners boat - Laughing Loon Northstar and it is long, although I like the way it paddles a lot.
I am helping a friend complete Nick Shades Great Auk 14 which would be relatively easy if you did not do the rolled edge option. Get "The strip-built Sea Kayak" book by Nick and the "complete" set of plans is in the book. You will have some questions, but this forum can answer them. Easier is to get the frames for the tool and avoid laying out the shapes.
