If it disapears when wet then I would think a coat of epoxy or varnish should wet it out and it would disappear.
Actually he said it didn't go transparent when wet.
I was trying to get at what he he was wetting it with.
Water and solvents will not wet-out glass as well as thin epoxy.
I'd recommend at least two coats of epoxy with slow hardener applied in warm conditions.
