I have a more general skeg question.
How do you service design like that? It appears once the skeg box is installed, the only way to get to the inside is to cut through deck and then through the skeg box. Do you assume it will always work without a problem?
What if you accidentally break the skeg?
Are there skeg designs that allow access to the skeg box?

Most skegs I've seen are within reach via the aft hatch.
Some skeg blades are removable from outside the boat (have a 'slot' vs a hole for the pivot); on others you'd have to pull the axle.
Replacing a kinked cable is a more common repair than broken blades, I think.
