I second on the Tern 14 for your wife. I built one for a female friend last summer and she locves it. She can load it herself on her car too. Iy is large enough to go touring/camping in but is still good for day paddling.
For you the Coho is nice (I love mine and have had it for 6 years) or the Tern 17. The new Murrelets are nice too. I m planning on building one next summer (unless I build a drift boat first, we'll see).
