For the amount of tubing that's required, I found that the 6063 aluminum tubing is actually pretty close to the cheapest option. I can't really print the tubes -- it would take an immense amount of plastic, and it would be heavy and not very strong, especially if printed in that direction. EMT tubing seems to be made of galvanized steel from the hardware stores around me, which would rust very quickly in salt water. In the end, the tubing from http://www.dxengineering.com/parts/dxe-at1482 worked out to be by far cheaper than any option. It's also the recommended solution from yostwerks.com.
