You might also consider, it's difficult enough to grab a kayak in the water when you're a swimming, let alone a waxed one.

I took my last build out on the water with the surface matt and ready for varnishing.I couldn't wait for the varnishing weather .I was amazed how grippy it was when wet.no substitute for deck lines,I know,but I liked the hidden beauty in the car park and the private show on the water.
