John, thanks for your input. Glue/screw or glue/peg are both plenty strong, so I'm not concerned there. However, your point about do-overs is a HUGE deal for me. I'm human and I screw up and when I do I don't want to have to break out 7 epoxy joints because I screwed one up. Even if lashing a boat took two hours longer than glue/screw, it would take more than 2 hours to fix a single mistake where a lashing mistake is fixed in under 2 minutes - snip, lash, fixed.
I think lashing saves me time, particularly when I goof up and need to do a "do over".
Plus, screws or dowels into the side of plywood are not all that strong. Four strands of lashing will lift over 200 pounds.
So in my humble opinion lashing is a better way to join pieces of a SOF with plywood pieces.John VB
