How thick of wood strips are you using?

Did you have difficulty aligning strip edges?

Did you go over the hull with a plane?

If you've sanded through some strips and others are very thin, there is a fundamental flaw in the techniques used.

You have two basic choices.

1- You can try to fix the problems.

Yes, you could use hot glue to tack the hull sections (from the underside) back onto the stations. However, if you have such thin sections you will not be able to sand the interior. If you can't sand the interior to a smooth surface your interior glass will not conform well. Fixing the problems is much more difficult and can impact every future step in the building process negatively. You are about 10% of the way through this project. You have a lot more work to do to finish this kayak.

And when you're done, you'll always know the problems are there, and this just might bug you.

Perhaps, you don't mind fixing this as best you can and just move on. You might feel, I don't care how it turns out, doesn't have to win a beauty contest, I just want to get on the water.

Still, if you don't understand the problems you ran into you will repeat them on the deck.

2 - You can start over.

Radical yes, but you start with a clean slate, lessons learned and a weight off your mind. You'll be surprised how fast it will be if you follow my suggestions on the "Shop Tips" pages.

It's much easier to start over and do it right, than to fix problems over and over. This is what I've learned after 80 boats.

I don't expect many builders will follow this path, but you will have this kayak for many years, and few extra days and dollars now may bring a lot more smiles in the years to come. And if you start over, avoid the problems you have now, you'll have a lot more fun than headaches we'll probably have to add you to the list of strip building addicts.
