I often encounter that in my builds depending on design. They run off the end or maybe I don't quite get the miter fit that I would like, so I cut off the end before glassing the deck. If you wanted a solid end that is also incorporated into the hull, then cut off end after deck is attached and affix with thickened epoxy and extra pieces of glass.
