I first stretch my nylon lengthwise, then lace it till drum tight. I sew the center seam while the nylon is fully wet. I don't have issues with my nylon going slack or getting too tight and crushing the frame. I have used canvas polyester and nylon, and nylon is my absolute favorite skin by far!
