Sort of as an experiment . . .

I did a similar approach with 2 nordic tracks but still kept in the original configuration so that one's arms in both directions were worked while legs were worked in the one direction of a typical machine . (So one maybe could get a full body work out but the flywheel wasn't used for arm motions, simple resis only). I took off the mast and front legs on the donor machine and attached it to the rear of the host in place of the rear legs of the host.

Then made stops for each mast arm to lock each roughly horizontal (and other angles for testing). The lines were then attached front and back to a 4' or 5' by 1" diam paddle loom analog. So then one would have both push and pull resistance on the loom with variable push to pulls if desired.

It worked, but was way too flexible and too wonky to be worth the trouble. (gave me lots of grins: eureka! eureka!) The simple nordictrack with single horizontal arm was just more quick and useful and foldable.
Note, this was not using the flywheel mechanics but just the simple resistance wheel for arm motion - so not the best simulator - just a what if.

(and who says I can't walk and paddle at the same time???)
