Boy, that brought back memories. Years ago a visitor to one of my web pages emailed me with instructions on how to resize and compress jpegs, recommended software, and offered to help in any way he could. My first reaction was to get pissed, as shamed as I am to admit it. I mean, here I go to the trouble of putting up a web page out of the goodness of my heart, and all this guy can do is criticize...

Fortunately I got over it fast. This was back in dial-up days and I knew the frustration of waiting for pics to load. I was also new to web publishing and needed all the help I could get (and still do). I gratefully accepted the advice, and knowing how to resize and optimize photos for web use has been one of the handiest things I've ever learned!

With a tip of my cap to the great James Thurber, I say we humans are the dopiest people there are. And yes, we're totally nuts when it comes to free stuff too, I know that one very well also.
