Your calculations will be different as you are planning a hybrid and will be getting your materials from different sources from me.

I buy rough sawn timber which I dress and rip myself. It costs me less than $150 for enough Paulownia for one kayak. If I bought strips from the same source, it would cost me about $450. If I bought bead and cove strips they would cost about $600. I don't use bead and cove.

Ripping the strips myself I can make them the thickness I want. I use 5mm strips for sea kayaks and 4mm or even 3.5mm for flatwater racing kayaks.

You may need to research some prices and do the calculations yourself.
