Hi all,
Long time reader but new to the forum...
I have been reading everything I can find about SOF Iqyax and am finalizing the details before taking saw to wood. I am basing my build on Wolfgang Brinck's book.
In reading about performance of the original craft the "V" angle of the bottom is quite important. As a big guy (6'-1" and 250lbs) I am making the boat 23" wide (the plans call for a 21" beam), if the depth stays the same as Wolfgang recommends the "V" changes from 14 deg to 10 deg which I see as significant. To achieve the desired 14 deg "V" bottom I will need to increase the interior hull depth at frame 4 to 7 7/8". I feel that keeping the overall proportions intact is the key to optimum design. I know that adding to the deck height will increase windage but with my displacement I don't think it will be an issue. Am I on the right track here? Yes I am over thinking this!
