According to the wood database Redwood is 26 #/ft^3 and WRC is 23 #/ft^3. On the Petrel with 3/16" strips there is about 3/4 ft# of wood so WRC would save 2-3# total weight. Not that much if you want Redwood, although a sub 30# kayak would be nice!
