Update:
This is a Saturday class for 3-4 hours each Saturday, so it is slow going, but we fiberglassed the inside of the hulls today. The guys loved this part, and they did very well. They achieved a satin finish and no bubbles, even in the ends. They are gaining skills that will help them get jobs.
Great news- possible funding to do this on a more regular basis and tie it into a program to teach local youth to work in the marine industry. I was asked if we can build sailboats and then the Yacht Club wants to teach them to sail and get ASA certified. Next they can work towards their captain's license and be charter captains. The Night Heron hybrid is a great introduction into boatbuilding. They learn S&G as well as strip methods and fiberglassing.
