I did notice someone elses comment regarding the coaming riser. Since I made it out of mahogany, I suppose all that's needed is to epoxy the pieces in place without fiberglassing, right? It kind of makes sense except for the #1 portion under the lip, this is where I would lift the boat.

At the minimum, I'd wrap glass around the coaming riser and lip (continuing under the deck) after everything was smoothed and rounded. Not as strong as glass on both sides, but better than plain wood, IMO. I use glass/CF coamings now, but that's a whole different style.

Coamings get a fair bit of abuse in normal paddling if you are practicing rescues and playing with the boat, and a failure would be embarrassing at best. :-)

I've seen several CLC boats with stacked plywood risers that have delaminated.
