Again - thanks so much for helping me step through of these processes...I have no context to judge against except what "seems like a good idea" in my head, and the thought of maneuvering 18ft strips in a tight workspace just didn't seem viable.

That's a great tip on the vertical scarf joints - I never ever would have thought to consider that, but it makes complete sense visually. Honestly, if this boat every gets off the strongback, I'll show it warts and all. I'm a practical builder that never lets perfect get in the way of "good enough".

I leave the works of art to the pros :)
