If I were using that method, I would stack ten forms together and clamp them as tight as I could and measure the height of the stack.

If the stack was 5.2", then I would know that each form was 0.02" oversize. that isn't much for one form, but it becomes significant over about 18 forms.

It wouldn't really affect the shape or performance of the kayak of the forms were spread out by 0.02" more than they should be, but it makes it hard to get things right if you have afixed length strongback.

However when you clamp them they will probably be right.
