Right here...My name should have come up under postings on this site and threads about the Yukon.
I find this boat fast and stable. I ran it in the Blackburn and did 3:40. Trained once a week for a few weeks which is not really enough... but time is tight. It is designed to compete with the Epic 18 and similar boats. I feel that it does this well but at 55, with spotty training I could not get faster. Maybe next year...
Have had it in 2-3' waves with currents while running the eddys in the Piscataqua River. This is one of my favorite solo runs. Boat was fine but I did keep the wing moving. Paddled the smaller swells and prefer to paddle out into them then try the downwind run to get it surfing.
This is a boat that wants a rudder. I used a ski footboard and won't do that again. Too hard to adjust due to tightness behind footboard. Makes it hard to loan and accurately demo.
I have a 34" inseam, weight, 210#s and size 12 and the fit is fine but no extra room.
Never done an overnight with this kayak. Has the room but do not know how it would feel with the added weight. Front hatch best to be strip lay in. Back hatch I just used one day hatch and I put a float bag in to keep things forward.
It is an interesting shape with the cut away and was so much different to build with the ski style bow. Nick has some good ideas on stripping the sheer if you build one.
When I paddle this I just want to go... If I am with a group that is moving 3-1/2 knots I'll be bored but paddling easy.
Available for demo in Milton NH
Let me know if you want more info. Hope this helps.
