Of course there is nothing wrong with the thousand boats built like that. Realistically as you and others put it doesn't much matter at all, for the typical use these boats see.
My response was to robs reply that after some testing by others he started orientating his glass differently, for cross grain strength. My comment simply stated that if going for the most cross grain strength then why wouldn't a person orientate all layers so that none of the glass yarns ever lined up with each other. Thus maximizing its usage.

No need for apologies either. I'm not high maintenance. Sorry to you if you took things the wrong way.
