A track saw seems like it provides multiple opportunities for error. You need to move the track every time and every time you move it you need to get the setup perfect. If the board bends or you set one end off a little bit, you end up with weird thicknesses.

I'm in the process of milling strips myself.

Here is my setup:

I have a Delta Unifence which works well because it can be setup with a low fence. The power feed is right over the blade, one wheel before, two after. The feed is angled in towards the fence to keep the material tight against the fence.

Because the rollers behind the blade apply pressure to the fence, you need the fence to continue beyond the rollers.

Here is the view below the feed:

I fashioned a small riving knife. I'm using a Freud Diablo 7.25" 40 tooth blade. The feed roller is just above the riving knife (don't let it touch *personal experience*). Set the rollers parallel to the table surface.

I still use the magnetic feather board, primarily to help assure a tight feed at the start and protect against bumps.

I get an accuracy within 1/64th inch. I still will plane the strips which gets me consistently within 1/1000th inch on all the strips. The planing is probably an over abundance of precision, but some of these strips will be cove and bead for classes where precision helps a bit.

BTW, wax your table top. Lowering the friction on the table helps everything slide more smoothly. Renew the wax periodically throughout the day.

When I get everything dialed in, I put a shroud over the whole thing for dust collection.
