Mike,
Use a heat gun on high to warm the area of the most bend ( 1-2 foot section ) till you can not hold it with bare hands. I often would pre-twist it off the boat and then heat in place and finish fit. The strip should lay in a pretty good alignment after heat treatment. I have heated them to smoking before and bent them, but it makes mrs. nervous when the house smells like its on fire.
