Also I've never been a big fan of Dewalt tools, I've bought a couple over the years that ended up being sub-par, so you end up buying another fairly expensive tool to replace it. After getting burnt a couple times I tend to just stay away.

I have vivid memories of trying to work with my father's cheap piece of junk jig saw. I thought all jig saws were bad tools.

Then I used a Bosch jig saw, something they are famous for and I couldn't believe what a wonderful tool it was and how much fun it was to work with. I've never regretted paying more for a good tool since.

It's easy to buy one or two poor tools from a brand and develop a negative impression of the whole.

I admit this bias toward the Ryobi brand, yet I have a 6" jointer they made years ago which is a great tool.

As you probably know certain tool brands are famous for the tools they pioneered years ago, such as Milwakee drills, Porter Cable belt sanders, and Bosch Jig saws. Tools every tradesman would have in their bag.

Some of these brands are still good and some have changed.

When I was looking for a small table saw exclusively for cutting strips I looked over the field and was especially impressed with the fence system on that Dewalt. It is the only Dewalt tool I currently own and I'm very happy with it. I wish I could justify buying another one because the newer version DWE 7480 has the first blade guard I would use since it goes on and off with a flick of a lever.

I think evaluating each tool on it's own merits, regardless of brand, is the best way to find the tool that works best for you.
