My impression, without having tried it, is that the chances of the edges of the cove surviving intact until you need them would be small and the chances of fitting the bead into the cove as the two halves were brought together would be even smaller.
I just can't see that the edge of the cove would be strong enough to locate the two parts if some force was needed to align them and if little force was needed, the the extra effort of the bead and cove would not be needed anyway.
Others may be able to get it to work, but I am quite sure that I would find it a waste of time and a nuisance.
