In Response To: Strip: A Racing Sea Kayak *PIC* (John Messinger)

Earlier this year I modified a Mystery into a competitive strip racing kayak as well. It's longer, narrower, more rocker, with an under hull rudder. I added bulkheads and hatches so it is an excellent kayak for long distant races and fast tours. I recently did the Autumn Classic race in Sacramento, CA (River City Paddlers) and completed the 8 mile course in 1:12:59. I will compete in the Bob Hanna Classic in January and the Cal100 in May. I'm extremely happy with this kayak! It is competitive with Huki and Epic surf skis and has surprising stability in a 16 1/4" BAW kayak.
