I much prefer shorter strips and join the strips with a scarf on the forms rather than creating full length strips.

However part of my reason for using shorter strips is that with the brand of glue I use, the temperature in which I work, and the technique I use to hold strips while the glue dries, I have trouble getting the whole strip held in place before the glue begins to skin.

Your situation may be different, but perhaps you should consider scarfing on the forms.
