Blending the outer stem into the boat is much easier than you imagine. Nick's video is a nice way and I know he has done laminations too. The lamination method is super easy. One thing I learned is to use all hard wood. I have used cedar and other soft woods and inevitably you will ding your bow on something and then you get the white spot where the glass gets fractured. Use hard woods.

Just use a board with sandpaper glued on to get a flat surface and the laminations will go on seamless or you can add an accent white piece like I did here.
