Don't confuse a fit that allows contact with the boat to a "tight fit". Ideally, you want a hands space between any hip contact and the body. That prevents you from slipping from side to side. And, you want to be able to press a bit on your foot braces and tighten your thighs a bit and have a secure contact with the thigh braces or pads. You should be able to rock the boat from side to side with your thighs. None of this has anything to due with a "tight fit" or your ability to enter or exit the boat as easily as you do now. You're just setting up the fit so you can control the boat with your body.

I absolutely guarantee that once you do that, you will be in a different boat.

I've had people bring the exact boat as mine to a meet with no outfitting and try mine that is outfitted to perfection and swear it's a different boat. They would actually turn the boats upside down to check out the bottoms because they couldn't believe the stability in mine.
