What are the brand and model of the kayaks? Some kayaks in that range are really sweet boats, and some are the kind of thing you pick up at the local box store for a couple hundred dollars (and that's the best thing you can say about them).
As was also mentioned, it also depends on your intended use. That has more of an effect than your weight. I have a friend who is about your size, and he paddles very well in a kayak that is 5' 10"- on whitewater. It would not be fun on flat water or big open water.
