Thanks all, for your replies, to answer a couple of questions, We will be using these on fairly tame water in the Delaware River, as well as on nearby lakes. I don't know the brand or make of what kayaks our friends are selling, but it is pretty clear to me that I should not get something this short (9 and 10 feet) for my wife and I. What I didn't mention in my original post is that we also would like to store overnight camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag, etc.) for a weekend. Any suggestions as to what lengths would be best for us? Thanks very much. Sam
