Awfully hard to tell unless you can find a local club. There were at one time about 20 times the number of canoe/kayak builders than we have now, the rest were a varied bunch, some only made a few boats, some were bought out by other companies, many many just went out of business. At one time there was a pretty large market for small kayaks that supported a fairly large number of local and regional builders, that time is well past, by 20-30 years, so it can be very difficult to find out any information about who built what.

You might try paddling.net sometimes they have local paddlers that never come onto this site. I only rarely go over there anymore, so you'll have to look around to find out where to post this.
