Thank you all for your great suggestions! I appreciate all the help.
I've been looking at designs for a year or so and I've come to the conclusion that no one boat is going to fulfill all my requirements. Isn't that always the way! :)
What I have settled on is Nick's 14 foot Great Auk. I have his book, and I have read it a dozen times, and just last night I realized he has a mention of how to shorten the Great Auk to 14 feet. Lofting the station forms appeals to me in a "I made it from scratch kind of way". I'm sure I'll be playing a bit with the forms spacing, but I don't want to deviate too far from the great work he's done.
If it doesn't work out, well I have a soon to be teenage son who will most definitely claim it as his as I move on to a canoe. So nothing lost in that. In fact, I may not get to claim it as mine, as he has been telling me it's his already!
