Make sure you wear gloves if you rub the cloth - human skin oils will stop you getting a really transparent layup- not really a problem when just handling the cloth, unless you have very sweaty hands, but I wouldn't rub it with bare hands

I use a clean dry paint brush for smoothing glass cloth; works for me.
